Australian Communications and Media Authority (previously Australian Broadcasting Authority and Australian Communications Authority)
On 1 July 2005, the Australian Broadcasting Authority and the Australian Communications Authority merged to become the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). The ACA was originally established under the Australian Communications Authority Act 1997, and exercises powers under the Telecommunications Act 1997, the Radiocommunications Act 1992, and other related legislation.
